Senior Police Inspector Ng (Michelle Yeoh) is assigned to work with another lady inspector from Scotland Yard, to investigate the murder of an agent from the Commercial Crime Bureau of London, who was killed because of the evidence he has collected against a crime syndicate in Hong Kong. As the duo try to work around each other's polarised cultures and background, they kick and punch their way through the investigation, leading to two small time pickpockets Strepsil and Asprin, who had stolen the passport containing the evidence from the agent before he died. As the bumbling pickpockets try to dodge the assassins in hot pursuit, they eventually turn to the lady cops for help against the crime boss.
